Molecular Structure and Characteristics

Aramid-III fiber is a novel para-aromatic heterocyclic copolyamide fiber made by introducing a heterocyclic structure into the main chain of poly(p-phenylene terephthalamide) (PPTA). Its molecular structure is shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1 Molecular Structure of Aramid-III

Thanks to its superior molecular structure design compared with Aramid-II fiber (fully para-aramid, Aramid 1414), its mechanical properties are about 30% higher than those of Aramid-II. At the same time, the introduction of the heterocyclic structure also improves the interfacial properties of the fiber, which is more favorable for use in composites.

Product Features and Applications

Due to its unique molecular structure and process technology, STARAMID F-3 Aramid-III has excellent properties such as low density, ultra-high strength, ultra-high modulus, high temperature resistance, good impact resistance, good wear resistance and good wave transmission, and is a typical new-generation structural and functional integrated new material. It is widely used in high-end civil fields such as sea, land and air transport vehicles, electric power, electronics, optical cable and sporting goods.

Filament

With the continuous improvement of Aramid-III preparation technology and the continuous expansion of application fields, based on different properties and application fields, STARAMID® F-3 Aramid-III filament products have formed multi-series products such as F-358, F-368, F-378 and F-398. In order to strengthen the company's management in the development and production process and to facilitate customers' selection of Aramid-III filament products, our company has formulated a set of standard naming rules for Aramid-III filament products, as follows:

F-3-A-B-C-D

A-Category 68 represents high-strength type, 58 represents high-modulus type.

B-Specification Based on the nominal linear density of the fiber [expressed in tex, the code meanings are shown in Table 1];

C-Color Divided into regular golden yellow and special dark brown. Dark brown is marked with DY (Dark Yellow), and golden yellow has no suffix.

D-Grade Breaking strength G1: σ≥29, G2: 26≤σ<29 and G3: 18.5≤σ<26
